Protocol
Available protocols: Western Blotting, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin), Immunofluorescence (Frozen)
Specificity / Sensitivity
alpha/beta-Synuclein (Syn205) Mouse Monoclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of total synuclein protein. This antibody detects recombinant α and β-synuclein (Giasson, B.I. et al., 2000).
Species Reactivity: Human, Mouse, Rat
Source / Purification
Monoclonal antibody is produced by immunizing animals with human recombinant α- and β-synucleins and the epitope maps to the carboxy terminus of the protein.
Background
α-Synuclein is a protein of 140-amino acids expressed abundantly in the brain. α-Synuclein is also the main component of pathogenic Lewy bodies and Lewy neurites. Research studies have shown that mutations of the α-Synuclein gene are linked to Parkinson's disease (1).
