Background
NLRC5 (NOD-like receptor family CARD domain containing 5, NOD4, CITA, NOD27) is a member of the NLR family of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) involved in innate immunity (1,2). NLRC5 is predominantly expressed in hematopoietic cells, and is upregulated by IFN-γ (1-4). NLRC5 transcriptionally regulates the MHC class I antigen presentation pathway, and induces the expression of β2 , and genes, in addition to (3-5). In cancer, NLRC5 is critical for inducing cytotoxic CD8 T cell activity and is a potential target for cancer immune evasion (6,7).
