Description
General description
L-arginine monohydrochloride is the hydrochloride salt form of L-arginine, an essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in several biological processes. It is commonly used in biology and biochemistry research as a cell culture supplement to support the growth and maintenance of various cell types.
Application
L-Arginine monohydrochloride has been used in mouse pancreas perfusion experiments. It has also been used as a component of SILAC medium.
Biochem/physiol Actions
L-Arginine is a dibasic, semi-essential amino acid. It acts as a precursor for creatinine and is a natural constituent of most of the dietary proteins.
Substrate of nitric oxide synthase, which is converted to citrulline and nitric oxide (NO). Induces insulin release by a nitric oxide-dependent mechanism.
